XP will NOT be wiped with assets, the devs have stated. One nation had good go one month, reset and do it again.Īnnnnnnnnnnnnnd aggggggaaaaaaaaain. They had these map wipes and it worked perfect. I understand that many of you would like to make your own/original game but i say we can ' borrow ' good things thats been made in other games. Everyone trying to fix it manually where is should be some safety switch against it. Make false peace again so pirates would give you few ports back to play with? So what would you do when there is no more port battles at all? Pirates growing during these actions so theoretically it is possible. Than pirates eliminates another nation And again some of them turns pirate others scattered among all nations and some leave. Especially since no-one would want to do any of that, since the wipe would come sooner rather than later. Repeating the same very process of the same very port battles time and time again - not to mention having to redo the whole outpost infrastructure - would NOT be interesting. As long as alliances shift, ports being contested change, players look for different fronts. Love this game, and community likewise, maybe i will revisit, but for now like many others i have stopped playing it (and posting videos) for the time being. And that's why they would not do it. I still like fighting aspect of the game, and ship look and feel, but i feel that the devs deviated so much from the original Early Access game (that was contagious and fun) despite the fact they did not deviate from their original promise (open world, economy etc.) but sometimes. And the upgrades, crafting, economy and all other issues which make this game stop trying to be Naval Action, but try to make it also an "Elite: Dangerous" of the seas or "World of Upgrades" (sorry i meant Tanks)Įxcuse the salt, but as one of the inital Early alpha players who could not stop playing and posting many videos about the game, given the fact that I can not wait for 2h for any fight to happen and am not interested in 2h sailing across the map (especially as being a dad of a 2-yr old kid). In my opinion the Open World (despite being beautiful) kills the game as much as it enhances it. No 2h sitting in front of port waiting for port battle (player matching for trafalgar took about 2 mins tops), no bull.t upgrades that transform your (slow and sturdy) "BellePoule" into (racing) "Rennomme". Also there was lot to learn about sailing in formations and stuff. The fun part is that every ship class had purpose (smaller frigates were tasked with pestering and disabling ships) while the big boys duke it out. Participating in Trafalgars required at least a Surprise, but more often at least a Constitution. There were small battles (5-10 ships), big battles (up to 20), and Trafalgars (up to 64 if i remember). ![]() It was just you - the player, your ship which had its strengths and weaknesses (imagine all Surprises being exactly the same stats), and the only focus was ship battles, and your own skill (and not just some fake and abstract skill number).Īt that time it was TRULY a game of skill. No upgrades, no crew multipliers, no bull.t. Given, the Open World is massive and beautiful, however then the focus was on player combat. To put it another way: The devs are wanking with the code and don't give a crap about player retention.įor me it was best at the Early Alpha (Before Open World hit). The Devs are having too much fun indulging their own interests with the codebase, introducing sweeping changes which will require many months to test and for players to discover new exploits, leading to yet more wipes and more sweeping changes.įurthermore, The devs fail to understand that the best content in the game is the players themselves (gee? they closed the PVE server down? That should be a pretty good indication right there). I've said it before and I'll say it again. Instead they're going to continue introducing game mechanics which require an enormous time commitment from players (eg: the new system that provides upgrades depending on how long you sail a ship) and changes which remove old complexity and replace it with new complexity (time to relearn how the economy works. The devs are actively ignoring any requests or attempts to make the game more playable and attract more players.
